Often we find ourselves feeling too sleepy and the clock ticking away the time to cook for Suhoor. Here are two easy and quick Suhoor recipes that are quite filling as well

Butter Garlic Rice by Fareeha Ahmed

As Ramadan is upon us, I love to make simple recipes for Suhoor. The ones that do not take too much of time, something which I can cook in a jiffy and yet taste delicious that kids can enjoy it.

And all I can think of is the butter garlic rice. This is such a simple dish, that you can leave the rice on the rice cooker and gather up just 15 minutes before eating. Just toss in some garlic in butter, throw in the rice and top it with some spring onion. That’s it, a very popular and very tasty recipe is up and ready in a moment. So without any ado, let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients

3 cups cooked rice

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp finely minced garlic

2 – 3 stalks of spring onion, finely chopped

salt to taste

2 tsp of soy sauce

Method

Heat butter in a large enough pan and add the garlic. Fry lightly till golden brown. Add rice, salt and toss well till well incorporated.

Add the soy sauce and toss again. Finally, add in the spring onion and give it a stir. Serve hot with any Manchurian recipe.

Black Forest Smoothie by Karima Heraoua

Hi, it is so nice to have the opportunity to write a guest post on here. I am Karima from www.Karimascrafts.com and when Ramadan arrives each year my children love making up new recipes for Suhoor Smoothies.  We normally just use any fruit that we have lying around the house and adding some dates to it.  We like to have different ones each day to make it more interesting.  Here is one recipe we will be trying during Ramadan this year Insha’Allah.

Ingredients

Half a cup of Natural yoghurt

Handful of strawberries

Handful of Frozen Black Forest Fruits

A few dates

Teaspoon of Honey

Half a cup of Milk or Water

Method

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until all mixed and no lumps.

Serve in a glass (optional add a strawberry for decoration and to eat!)
